What appointment type do I need?
Please book a GP appointment only if you need diagnosis and treatment for a condition. For anything else, select the appropriate appointment type to ensure we can assist you.
What makes a DocTap GP?
DocTap offers two main types of appointments: face-to-face appointments at a DocTap clinic and virtual (video) consultations. Choose an in-person appointment if you need a physical examination or test with one of our GPs or Health Care Assistants (HCA). Choose a virtual consultation if you don’t expect to need a physical examination.
On our booking page, please select the appointment type, date, and location that you would like. Next you will be asked who the appointment is for, if you would like to book the appointment for your child, please select ‘+ Add Child’ and follow the steps. Please bring your child's birth certificate along with your photo ID to the appointment.
In the UK, public healthcare is provided by the National Health Service (NHS), which is funded through taxes and free to use at the point of care. The NHS offers a broad range of services, from primary care to specialist treatments. Private healthcare providers like DocTap operate independently of the NHS. Patients pay directly for private healthcare services, although health insurance can often cover the cost. However, most health insurance policies do not cover primary healthcare (GP services).
The fee you pay when booking your appointment covers the consultation with the doctor, as well as any prescriptions or letters provided during that consultation. If your doctor recommends any tests or scans, you can choose to go ahead with them and pay during your appointment. For sexual health appointments, fees may vary depending on the specific tests required.
Do I need to bring ID to my appointment? Yes, if this is your first consultation with DocTap, please bring a valid photo identification, such as a passport or driver’s license. You don’t need to bring ID if you’ve already had a DocTap appointment before. If you're bringing your child for their first visit, please bring their birth certificate along with your own photo ID.
