Simple, safe treatment
In clinic dispensing
Many medications are stocked in clinic, saving you a trip to the pharmacy. E-prescriptions and delivery are also available.
Complete range of medications
The widest selection of medications is available through clinic consultations, where your doctor can perform an examination if needed.
See a doctor, get your prescription
No forms, messaging, or waiting for approval—just see a GP, and they’ll issue your prescription on the spot.
The right medication
Your doctor will take the time to make sure you have the right prescription for your condition.
No prescription charges
There’s no extra charge for issuing a prescription. Medications dispensed in clinic are charged per item.
Most standard medicines can be issued during a video appointment. If you feel you may need an examination for an accurate diagnosis then please book a clinic appointment however. Please note, we do not prescribe any potentially addictive medications such as diazepam in video appointments.
Our doctors cannot prescribe Schedule 2 or Schedule 3 controlled drugs. If you require a prescription for a specific medication, please contact our patient support team at 02071833254 to confirm if our doctors can prescribe it. During your appointment, our doctors will use their clinical judgment to determine the appropriate medication. If you are requesting a prescription for a medication prescribed elsewhere, please bring as much supporting evidence as possible regarding the condition for which you need the prescription.
At DocTap, if a patient needs a new or regular prescription, they will need to schedule a consultation each time they require the prescription. This is so that the GP can ensure that patients are still on the appropriate medication and dosage before issuing another prescription. DocTap does not offer 'repeat' prescriptions. To obtain a repeat prescription, the patient should contact their NHS GP.
Patients will need to schedule an appointment with a DocTap GP each time they need a new prescription for contraception because DocTap does not offer repeat prescriptions. Depending on a doctor's clinical judgement they can prescribe 3-6 months of a contraceptive medication before a patient will need to return to get another prescription. Your NHS GP will generally be able to provide longer term or repeat prescriptions.
Doctors typically prescribe no more than 2 to 3 months of medication at a time, ensuring regular check-ups to monitor progress and make any necessary adjustments.
The patient must be present during the consultation to issue a prescription. If they cannot attend in person, a video call is typically fine. If the patient wishes to have someone else present, such as an interpreter, that is also welcome.
We stock a small number of commonly prescribed medications in some of our clinics. If we don't have the medication you require in stock, your doctor will hand you a prescription for you to take to a pharmacy. You'll be able to collect your medications at any UK pharmacy or chemist.
Anticipatory prescribing, while not always necessary, can be beneficial in certain situations. This decision is solely based on the doctor's clinical findings, and precautionary prescriptions are always issued at the doctor's discretion.
There is no additional charge for issuing a prescription. Medications dispensed in clinic are charged per item which is usually no more than the NHS prescription charge.
Patients pay the full cost of the medication with a private prescription. NHS prescriptions have a standard fee, regardless of the medication's cost. Costs for some medications are lower than the NHS standard fee, but some will be higher.
Please contact our patient support team to check if our doctors can prescribe the medication you require. Our doctors will use their own clinical judgement when issuing any prescription. If requesting a medication you usually take, please bring as much supporting evidence and relevant medical history about your condition as possible to enable our doctors to make an appropriate decision.
Restricted drugs
To ensure safe prescribing, we follow a strict policy for medications that can be misused.
