We do not currently offer postal STI kits. We prioritise the accuracy and reliability of our STI testing and results. Therefore, all STI tests must be completed at one of our clinics. By conducting tests at our clinics, we can then control the full journey of the test to the lab and ensure you get your results quickly.
Yes. Many STIs do not cause symptoms, so it’s a good idea to get tested after unprotected sex or a new sexual partner.
Yes. If you don’t have symptoms, you can book your chosen STI test directly with a healthcare assistant at select DocTap clinics. If you do have symptoms or are unsure which tests you need, it’s best to book a GP appointment for tailored advice and treatment options.
Different STIs have varying window periods after exposure before they can be reliably detected. This information is provided on the booking page for each test. Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea can be tested from 14 days after exposure. HIV, Syphilis, Hepatitis B, and Hepatitis C are best tested at 45 days but are often detectable from 28 days. For earlier detection, we offer tests for HIV, Hepatitis B, and Hepatitis C that can identify the virus from as early as 10 days.
You’ll check in, discuss any symptoms if needed, and provide samples such as blood, urine, or swabs depending on the test. The process is quick and discreet, and If anything comes back positive, a doctor will explain your results and arrange treatment or next steps.

We cannot treat HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis B/C. You’ll be advised to visit an NHS GUM clinic to treat these.
There are no hidden fees, however there are additional charges you should be aware of - as mentioned in our test price list, a £20 test handling fee is charged in addition to the test price. When booking an appointment with a GP, tests are chargeable in addition to the consultation fee.
The price will depends on the test package, and whether a doctor’s consultation is included. If you do not have any symptoms, you can opt for rapid testing available at selected clinic locations, which is our more affordable option.
